How to see likes on an Instagram post
- Copy the link. Open the post or reel, tap the share arrow or ⋯, then Copy link.
- Paste it above. You get likes, comments, the post date and likes per day since it went up.
- Open the likers. Press Show who liked, then type a name to check whether that account is in the list.
What it shows, and what it can't
The like and comment counts come from Instagram's public page for the post, so they match what you'd see in the app. The likers list is a sample of about 50 accounts: Instagram never gives the full list to anyone except the owner. If someone isn't in the sample, they may still have liked the post.
Hidden like counts
Since May 2021 anyone can hide the like count on their own posts. Other people then see "Liked by" a few names "and others" with no number. When a post's count is hidden we say so and show no number, because the owner chose to keep it private.
Can you see what someone else liked on Instagram?
Not as a list. Instagram removed the Following activity tab, which showed what people you follow were liking, in 2019, and nothing replaced it. Your own likes are in the app under Your activity, then Interactions, then Likes. For anyone else, the only way is post by post: open a post and look for their name among the likes. The search box above does that for the sample we load.

Can I see who liked someone's Instagram post?
Yes, if the account is public. Paste the post link, then press Show who liked. You get about 50 recent likers, which is as many as Instagram hands out at a time to anyone but the owner. Type a name in the search box to check whether a particular account is in that list.
Can I see hidden likes on Instagram?
No. When the owner hides the like count, other people see a few names "and others" with no number, and so do we. Only the owner can still see the total. We show the comment count and post date as usual.
Will the person know I looked at their likes?
No. We read the post's public page, the same one anyone can open without an account. Instagram doesn't notify anyone, and we never log in to their account or yours.
Why isn't someone I know in the likers list?
The list is a sample of about 50 accounts, not every like. On a post with hundreds of likes, most people won't be in it even if they liked it. Not finding a name doesn't prove they didn't like the post.
Can I see likes on a private account's posts?
No. Posts on a private account are only visible to approved followers, so no outside tool can open them. Follow the account and open the post in the app.
How do I see the posts I liked?
In the app, go to your profile, open the menu, then Your activity, then Interactions, then Likes. You can sort by newest or oldest and unlike posts from there.
