Instagram Grid Maker
Split one photo into 3, 6 or 9 tiles that line up on your Instagram profile, numbered in the order to post them. It runs in your browser; your photo isn't uploaded.

How to make an Instagram grid
- Pick a photo. A wide or tall image with space around the subject works best.
- Choose the grid. 3 x 1 is one row, 3 x 3 fills the top of your profile. Slide the photo until the crop looks right.
- Download and post. Post tile 1 first and finish with the highest number. The last one lands top-left.
Portrait or square tiles?
Instagram's profile grid shows posts as 3:4 portraits, so portrait tiles (1080 x 1440) line up exactly. Square tiles (1080 x 1080) are fine in the feed, but the grid trims their sides, so the picture won't join up as cleanly.
Keep it lined up
- post the tiles back to back, nothing in between
- unpin pinned posts while the grid is the newest thing on your profile
- later posts move it on: post in threes to keep rows intact
Private by design
Your photo is cut on your device with the browser's own canvas. It isn't sent to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept when you close the page.
Frequently asked
What size should Instagram grid tiles be?
The profile grid now shows posts as 3:4 portraits, so 1080 x 1440 pixels per tile lines up best. Square 1080 x 1080 tiles still work, but the grid crops their sides.
In what order do I post the tiles?
Bottom-right first, then right to left and upwards, ending with the top-left tile. The newest post always takes the top-left spot. The tiles are numbered in posting order.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is cut in your browser and never leaves your device.
Why is my grid out of line?
The grid only lines up if you post a multiple of 3 and nothing in between. Pinned posts sit in front of the grid and can push the picture out of line, so unpin them while the grid is the newest thing on your profile.
