Your highlight cover

Instagram crops covers into a circle. The preview shows exactly that.

Saves a 1080ร—1080 PNG to your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How to make matching highlight covers

Keep one background for every cover and change only the icon. That's what makes a row of highlights look like a set. Choose a swatch or your own photo, pick an icon or type one or two letters, set the icon light or dark, then download. Repeat with the next icon on the same background.

How to change an Instagram highlight cover

  1. Download the cover here. It saves to your camera roll or downloads folder.
  2. On Instagram, open your profile and press and hold the highlight.
  3. Tap Edit highlight, then Edit cover.
  4. Tap the photo icon, pick the PNG, centre it in the circle and tap Done.

Frequently asked

How do I add a highlight cover without posting it to my story?

Open your profile, press and hold the highlight and tap Edit highlight, then Edit cover. Tap the photo icon, choose the PNG from your camera roll, centre it and tap Done. The cover image never appears in your story.

What size should an Instagram highlight cover be?

A square of at least 1080 x 1080 px, which is what this tool downloads. Instagram shows the cover as a small circle, so keep the icon in the middle. A 1080 x 1920 story-size image also works, but you crop it down to the same circle.

How many stories fit in one highlight?

Up to 100. After that, start a second highlight on the same topic, like Travel 2.

Why does my highlight cover look blurry?

Usually the image was small or a screenshot. Upload the 1080 x 1080 PNG itself, not a screenshot of it, and avoid zooming in a lot when Instagram asks you to frame the circle.

Can I use my own photo as the background?

Yes. Tap Use a photo instead, then use Dim photo so a white icon stays readable on top. The photo is drawn in your browser and never uploaded.

Are these highlight covers free?

Yes, with no login and no watermark. Make and download as many as you like.
