Is it really watermark-free?
Yes. TikTok keeps a copy of each video without the logo overlay that its own Save button adds, and that is the file you get. Nothing is re-encoded.
If the creator burned text or a logo into the video itself, that stays. It's part of the picture.
What quality do you get?
The best TikTok serves for that video. When the creator uploaded in HD you get a separate HD button, usually 1080p; otherwise the normal file is the best there is, typically 720p for older uploads. Photo posts come back as their individual images.
