Whatever the creator uploaded. Instagram stores a single encoded version of each video and that is the file you receive:

• usually 1080p vertical for a modern upload
• lower for an older or a heavily compressed one
• carousels: every video and photo, one file per slide

The link you get points at Instagram's own content servers, not ours. Two things follow from that:

• The links expire within a few hours. Save the file rather than bookmarking it.
• Your browser fetches the file directly, so Instagram's servers see that request. Our profile viewer proxies its images so browsing profiles stays private; large video is different, and pushing it through our servers would slow the site down for everyone.

Downloading a video for your own reference is one thing. Re-uploading someone else's work as your own is a copyright problem and a reputation one. If you're resharing, credit the creator and ask when it matters.
