How to download Instagram photos

  1. Copy the link. In the app, tap the share icon under the post (or the three dots) and choose Copy link. In a browser, copy the address bar.
  2. Paste it above. A bare shortcode works too. The DcMXl1IPNtB part on its own is enough.
  3. Press the button. Every photo in the post appears below with a preview so you can check you got the right ones.
  4. Save it. Use the button under each photo.

You get the largest version Instagram stored, with nothing added on top. Saving a video instead? The video downloader is the same tool set up for videos.

Can I download Instagram photos without an app?

Yes. There is nothing to install, no extension, no permissions to grant, and no account to create. It works the same on iPhone, Android and desktop because it is just a web page.

Be wary of downloaders that push you toward an app or a browser extension. An extension that can read Instagram pages can read a great deal else besides.

What size do you get?

You get the largest version Instagram keeps for that photo, usually 1080 pixels wide, or smaller if the original upload was smaller. Carousels come as one file per slide. Nothing here re-compresses the image, so it works as a full-size Instagram image downloader with no quality loss, but it can't make a small original bigger.

Is it watermark-free?

Yes, because we don't re-encode anything. We hand you the original file, so the only watermark is whatever the creator put there themselves.

What this tool can't do

  • Private accounts. If you can't see the post while logged out, no tool can fetch it, and anything claiming otherwise is either lying or trying to get your password.
  • Stories. They aren't covered here.
  • Deleted posts. They are gone.

About the download links, honestly

The link you get points at Instagram's own content servers, not ours. Two things follow from that:

  • The links expire within a few hours. Save the file rather than bookmarking it.
  • Your browser fetches the file directly, so Instagram's servers see that request. Our profile viewer proxies its images so browsing profiles stays private; full-size files are different, and pushing them through our servers would slow the site down for everyone.

Please respect whose work it is

Downloading a photo for your own reference is one thing. Re-uploading someone else's work as your own is a copyright problem and a reputation one. If you're resharing, credit the creator and ask when it matters.
