How do I download Instagram stories?
Type the account's username and press Get stories. Every story the account has live right now loads as a thumbnail. Open one and press Download: the photo or video opens in a new tab in the quality Instagram serves, and you save it from there. Public accounts only, and nothing asks you to log in.
Does the account know I downloaded their story?
No. Instagram's viewer list only records logged-in accounts that open a story. This page fetches stories from our servers with nobody signed in, so no name is added to the list and no notification is sent. Saving the file afterwards happens in your own browser, and Instagram never sees it.
Can I download stories from a private account?
No. Private stories are only visible to approved followers, so there is nothing public to fetch. Any site claiming to download private stories either doesn't work or wants your password, and handing that over puts your own account at risk. Close Friends stories are the same: only that list can see them.
Can I download a story from yesterday?
Only if it's still live. Stories disappear 24 hours after they're posted, so any downloader can only reach what the account has up right now. If they saved the story to a highlight, it stays on their profile, and the Instagram highlight downloader can save it from there.

The same file Instagram serves to any logged-out visitor, usually 1080 pixels wide for photos. Nothing is re-compressed and no watermark is added.

Saving a story for yourself is one thing. Reposting someone else's photo or video as your own is a copyright problem, so ask first and credit the creator.
